Wurstkuche is a hip restaurant in downtown LA's historic Arts District, near Little Tokyo. It is located on a very cool, up-and-coming block along with several other restaurants and bars. Wurstkuche serves sausage sandwiches, Belgian fries with homemade dipping sauces, 24 imported beers on tap, and a selection of gourmet sodas. The restaurant does not look like much from the outside, but once you go inside, you are greeted by a buzzing crowd and delicious smells. You can pick from a wide selection of normal, gourmet, and vegetarian sausages, along with toppings such as caramelized onions and sweet peppers. Wurstkuche also has an impressive selection of tasty German and Belgian beers on tap, including two of my favorites, Chimay and Delirium Tremens. This simple food and beer combo is very satisfying, and it is fun to eat in a restaurant with a lot of communal seating. I highly recommend this place, either for a date or with a group of friends!
Mmmmm! this sounds good. See any small children there? Bier and Wurst - two of my favorite foods!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the informative reviews, Food Snob!
Saaaay, Wurst und Bier. Now you're talking my language. I read your reviews of the other restaurants at which you had dined. I was envious--how lucky you are to be able to go & try these restaurants. I've got a houseful of fussy eaters for whom pushing the envelope would be eating anything other than boneless skinless chicken breasts, noodles & broccoli. But Wurst--I think I could talk them into this. When my family went to Germany a few summers ago, my son lived on Bratwurst for three weeks straight. And for the adults, an extensive Bier menu would be very exciting. You didn't mention the price range... Is it reasonably priced?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I saw any kids there, but I was also there at 8pm on a Friday night. I don't see why you couldn't take kids.
ReplyDeleteIt is moderately priced, I'd say. I think it was about $30 for two people, but keep in mind that we each had an expensive beer. Anyway, you can see the prices on the restaurant's website - there's a link in my posting.
